Space Game Prototype


I’m working on 2d platformer. This is a prototype that people are welcome to try and give some feedback on. The mechanics and level designs are all currently work in progress.

The game will focus on the main character who has been “catfished” into travelling to an unknown planet. Once he arrives, he unfortunately crashes.

The opening level will be a Gradius style game where you have to dodge asteroids. A after a couple of minutes a section will be generated where the player is “forced” to crash. Stranding him on the strange planet.

Some mechanics that I will be adding:

  • Hover craft/board to play levels without floor but dodging incoming objects
  • Water - “Floating” movement with limited air to swim
  • Items to collect that you can give aliens, e.g. An alien that attacks you but feed him a nice alien fruit and he naps
  • springs/bouncy mechanic: Bounce off of alien pants to reach higher targets
  • Temporary doors/locks
  • Level/Door mechanic (Already implemented) Need to find ways to use it
  • Enemies/Aliens

Planned tweaks:

  • Improved camera movement
  • Better control while in air
  • More terrain variations that affects movement (Slopes, ice, mud)
  • Parallax backgrounds

  • Better backgrounds
  • New “flag”/portal
  • Change key to something more “alien”
